Bookpresentation of PRHSTR by Sébastien Conard edited La Cinquième Couche (5c)
PRHSTR...
is a wordless graphic novel that follows the adventures of a prehistoric tribe living through a time of great change. Within a storytelling cycle that is more mythical than realistic, this small group experiences the key milestones from the dawn of human history. In vibrant colors and elegant episodes filled with subtle drawings, Conard depicts the joys and struggles of a small group of people… just like us!
With a foreword by none other than Judith Vanistendael and an afterword by Léa Guyon (Musée de l’Homme, Paris).
Sébastien Conard (Namur, 1982) is an author and graphic artist, researcher in the arts (LUCA), and teacher (LUCA, KASK). Conard made his debut with The Lonely Look (as Seb C, Bries, 2009) and Guy Goggle takes a break (Imprimitiv, 2010). Since then, Conard/Dranoc has published various works of experimental comics and artist’s books. He is a founding member of the former artistic collective Imprimitiv (2009–2018). His artistic research work focuses on word and image, figuration and traces, and has, among other things, led to the project Post-Comics (KASK & het balanseer, 2020). He lives and works in Brussels and Ghent.
